GAP Advantage Protection
Guaranteed Auto Protection (GAP) protects you against financial loss in the event your vehicle is damaged beyond repair (totaled) or stolen and never recovered.
As the vehicle's value declines as a result of depreciation, the loan balance can be higher than the actual cash value of the vehicle. Without GAP Advantage coverage, if the vehicle is stolen and not recovered or totaled in an accident, you would be responsible for paying the difference between the insurance settlement and the outstanding loan balance.
With the purchase of GAP Advantage coverage, the deficiency balance is waived. In addition, GAP Advantage provides the member with $1,000 toward the purchase of another vehicle financed through Visterra CU.
GAP Advantage can be purchased up to one year after the loan is funded. Members may purchase GAP Advantage for refinanced loans as well. Please email or call the credit union for the premium cost, which is approximately $300.
