The Credit Union was originally organized and chartered on October 23, 1953 as March Air Force Base Credit Union. The first offices were on March Field and served mostly the military community and their families. Later the name was changed to March Federal Credit Union through the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
In 1980, the Credit Union moved to the corner of Cactus Avenue and Graham Street in Moreno Valley. At that time, the CU began serving other Select Employee Groups (SEGs) and their families near March Field, Riverside, and Sunnymead (now known as Moreno Valley).
On December 31, 1998, our name changed to March Community Credit Union under a State of California charter. This change opened up membership to anyone who lived or worked in Western Riverside County. In February 2001, a second branch opened in Corona.
In March 2006, the Credit Union again changed its name to Visterra Credit Union to better reflect the future strategic vision. The name comes from the word vista and the Latin root terra. By joining the two, the name is visionary and goal oriented as well as underscoring stability and security. Additionally, the Credit Union changed its field of membership to accept anyone living or working in Riverside County. A third branch was also added in Murrieta.
On April 30, 2007, Visterra Credit Union added a fourth branch in Riverside when it merged with Raincross Credit Union. We are proud to announce that on January 22, 2008, our fifth branch was opened in the Stoneridge Towne Centre in Moreno Valley.
Operated by and for its members, Visterra Credit Union provides high tech delivery of products while preserving old fashioned personal service.
Credit union members are members for life even if they move, change jobs, or retire.
